Tim Sweeney believes rumored Windows 10 Cloud will destroy Steam

Update: Tim Sweeney is at it again. This time he believes Windows 10 Cloud will ransom your Steam games. Many people working at Microsoft have denied this but he just won’t let it go. He clearly doesn’t understand that Windows 10 Cloud will run on underpowered devices meant for the education sector mostly. There won’t be any gaming on them to begin with as they compete with Chrome OS.

If you thought this day couldn’t get any weirder after Michael Pachter’s comments, well it has. Tim Sweeney is at it again and this time it looks like he’s wearing an even larger tin foil hat. According to Sweeney—whose claims have been debunked by Phil Spencer on numerous occasions—the rumored Windows 10 Cloud, which is supposed to be Microsoft’s answer to Chrome OS for internet-only devices, will somehow destroy Steam. The fact that it targets Chrome OS should be a giveaway that it won’t come close to that but you know, it’s Tim Sweeney so there’s got to be a conspiracy in there somewhere.

Windows 10 Crush Steam Edition

Looks like Microsoft was waiting till after the election to see if they could get away with their lockdown. https://t.co/9c6NvOuuyA

Windows 10 has great admin features to limit user software installs. They don’t need to lock out competitiors to achieve security.

No, it’s not OK. Microsoft is a monopoly with a large majority of PC OS market share, and is barred from forced “tying” by antitrust law.

I’m not even sure if Sweeney read the article because it clearly states that Windows 10 Cloud—if it actually exists—is meant for cheaper devices and will have limited functionality. The devices Windows 10 Cloud will be on probably won’t even run the majority of games on the Windows 10 Store because they will be underpowered for gaming. Hopefully this will put the conspiracy theories to rest because many gamers are believing him without actually reading about what Windows 10 Cloud is supposed to be.
