Gearbox Software’s FPS-MOBA Battleborn has received a seemingly unending “Free Trial” on PC and console.
Following the unsuccessful sales of the game since launch, rumors of the game going free-to-play have been circulating since September 2016. Finally, confirmed, the Battleborn Free Trial gives everyone unlimited access to the entirety of the game’s multiplayer portion with the 30 heroes being available six at a time on a weekly rotation.
The game will allow players to spend money (if they wish) on credits, platinum, loot packs, skins, taunts and the single player story content for an added price. On launch, Battleborn was very generous in dropping credits and loot throughout, but with the switch to a Free-to-Play mode that generosity might be lowered.
Those who already own Battleborn will be called Founders and, as a reward for their purchase, will receive the following content: 1,000 Platinum, 50,000 Credits, Founder Player Title, gold skins for Mellka and Deande, 5 Core Loot Packs, 5 Command Faction Packs, 1 Founder Loot Pack.
If you want to play through the game’s campaign, the original game is still available to purchase with access to everything it came with before. The Battleborn Free Trial is available now, although a brand-new “Supercharge’ mode will arrive on the 22nd June.
