Minecraft has sold over 20 million copies on PC

It has been announced via Mojang that Minecraft has sold 20 million copies since launch on the PC (Windows and Mac). On the Minecraft official website, a tracker was previously embedded into the front page, counting the total sales of the PC version, and today reached this new milestone.

This number only represents sales on the PC, and does not include sales on any console or mobile device. In early 2014, Minecraft had reportedly sold 14 million copies on the PC, and even though sales figures are not increasing as rapidly, it is notable that overall sales are still impressive.

Earlier this year Microsoft acquired Mojang for $2.5 billion. Since, we have seen Minecraft evolve around the Windows platform, and leading augmented reality gaming with HoloLens. It is likely that sales will still rapidly increase, with the recent innovation of the title on new technologies.

Minecraft sales hit 20 million on Xbox this May, and along with Playstation and mobile sales, it looks like Minecraft could have sold over 60 million copies across all platforms. Minecraft: Pocket Edition has sold the most copies, with 30 million copies supposedly sold.
