Xbox One April preview update rolling out today

Microsoft is rolling out a new Xbox One System Update to Xbox One owners who are currently registered in the Xbox One Preview Program. This time it’s a little different because the features will be split into two waves. Starting today the first set of features will roll out while the second set will roll out sometime next week. Microsoft have not commented on why they’re using this method, but one could suspect it’s due a features not just yet ready for external testing.

The first wave doesn’t include very exciting features, it’s mainly just improvements so I think next week’s update will be a lot more interesting. Anyway, onto the improvements!

Firstly, Party Chat is getting troubleshooting guidance which will help you in enabling your microphone or when privacy or network issues are blocking communication between certain party members. Secondly, Microsoft are making it easier to discover Game Hubs by allowing users to click onto them through Activity Feed items related to that game and seeing when your friends follow a certain game. A link to Game Hubs from the games page in the Achievements app has also been added. Finally, you’ll now see the description for Achievements you earn right in the notification for it. Not sure how this will work yet, but Microsoft have also said they’ve made performance improvements to make loading the Achievements app from a notification faster.

Microsoft are saying to stay tuned next week for the second wave which will include “more great features.” We’ll keep you updated.
