In an interview with Mike Nichols, chief marketing officer for Xbox, revealed that Cortana would work with the free headset that comes with every Xbox One. Nichols confirmed that when Cortana comes to the Xbox One—the voice or text search companion is scheduled to launch for Preview members sometime this year—it will include Kinect support.
However, beforehand Microsoft said that Cortana would only work with Kinect, now, it seems that you’ll also be able to use it with the headset. This is great news for those who don’t want to buy Kinect to get the full Cortana experience. This was a very popular request and I’m glad Microsoft listened to fans and enabled it both ways.
