The old reward system where a player was rewarded by performing various tasks during the gameplay, well known for those who play Halo: Reach, will have their return in Halo 5: Guardians, although a few changes were made to them. The new Commendation systems keep the basic structure, but 343i simplified them a bit, comparing to the old system, now all commendations have 5 tiers each, and every tier rewards you with XP. Completing tier 3 of any commendations will also grant a bonus REQ Pack with boosts and other single-use REQs, and by completing the tier 5 unlocks a pack containing a specific emblem. This will allow, everyone that complete the 5th tier, to show to the other players that they have put the time in and had the skills required to finish the commendation.
Besides the commendations, listed below, 343i intends to add even more commendations in the months ahead, and they also say that they will “watch the current ones close to make sure that they are fun and balanced”.
So the following list features all the commendations that will be available on the day Halo 5: Guardians releases:
