Update 2: Jonathan Blow recently stated that they’re looking at the possibility of The Witness coming to Xbox One now that other versions are complete and out in the open.
Update 1: The developers issued a statement. They said that they submitted the Xbox One version out of convenience. They aren’t working on the Xbox One version at the moment. However, the fact that they registered the version means it has a high chance of hitting the console in the future.
The Witness looks like an incredibly unique game and according to a report by Destructoid, the game will launch on Xbox One as well as the previously confirmed Windows and PlayStation 4 platforms. They stumbled upon an Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) rating that confirmed the Xbox One version.
The report said, “Development for The Witness began back in 2008, and now, we’re finally going to see the game in action next week when it launches on PC and PS4. But wait! According to the ESRB, it’s coming out on Xbox One as well at some point. Maybe it has something to do with Microsoft’s wonky exclusivity deals, but either way this looks like a concrete confirmation.”
We went to the ESRB page and can confirm that it lists an Xbox One version. Hopefully we’ll know more information about it soon. It’s great to see this game coming to our favorite console.
