Good news everyone, The Evil Within is getting rid of those black bars! According to Bethesda, playing the game through the letterboxed window is no longer necessary. A new update to the horror game introduces a new full screen mode that removes the thick black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.
Instead, players are given the option to fill the empty screen space with a view of the game world. This patch is currently available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, Windows, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.
