Halo franchise development director Frank O’Connor responded on NeoGaf to a user criticizing Spartan Locke’s voice. The user didn’t know that Locke’s voice has changed and a new voice actor was hired due to scheduling conflicts. O’Conner said, “You got that from one line over radio static? Ike Amadi has an amazing voice and you’re wrong scientifically. Listen to some other examples.”
He also explained the reasons behind the change. O’Conner added, Mike got offered…the role of a lifetime from Marvel, and so we either held him to our schedule or rejoiced in the idea of a live action Luke Cage…series and let him fly free like a gold-shirted eagle. And Ike was one of our original choices and has a wonderful voice. So everything worked out beautifully for everyone.”
Mike Colter was replaced because he had to go work on Luke Cage. Binding him to a voice-over contract would’ve been unfair. I can’t wait to watch Luke Cage!
