Yesterday at PAX Prime some huge news about Scalebound came out. Those that went there had the privilege to see the new, never before seen gameplay footage, in which game director Hideki Kamiya showed off some new features.
In the gameplay footage shown, it was revealed that it will be possible to fly your dragon and fight while airborne, this feature will be available in both solo and co-op modes, and will bring a new variety of ways to defeat your enemies. The ability to fly your dragon will mean new areas to explore and fight, which include floating islands scatter through the game. While flying be prepared to reach the stunning speed of 200km/hour, so make sure you’re strapped to your dragon.
Since the gameplay footage revealed at Gamescom, fans were intrigued about the co-op feature, and at PAX Prime that question was answered by the announcement of the 4 player co-op feature in the game campaign mode. In here the strategy will be the key element to face the various enemies of the game. Since you will be able to jump on and off your dragon during the fight, which allows you to fight enemies in two different fronts at the same time, land and air. Coordinate with your teammates to know who’s on the ground and who’s in the air to succeed in the battles.
Your dragon companion, called Thuban, can have a variety of different skins that can be applied to him that will offer different abilities, such as different dragon breath types, which haven’t been revealed yet but should be soon.
Related to the human character, according to what was announced, there will be a wide range of playable and upgradable characters. As for the human character’s weapons, the only one that was mentioned was the swords, which will have different upgrade options and attachments. About the other available weapons, such as the bow and arrow, there was no mention at all.
One thing that is still a mystery is the question if there will be different types of dragons. Unfortunately the gameplay showed at PAX Prime has not yet been made public and only gamers that attend PAX Prime, and the closed doors presentation, were lucky enough to put their eyes on the new gameplay. According to some leaks, of those who were there, the new gameplay footage will be released publicly soon.
Scalebound is one of the Xbox One exclusives that were announced at E3 and has its release scheduled of holiday 2016.
