Valve just updated their Hardware and Software Survey for August 2015 and Microsoft will be very happy with the results coming from the gaming world. Windows 10 adoption has exploded into the double digits!
Even though it’s only been available for a month, Windows 10 already has more share on Steam than Windows 8, Windows Vista, and Windows XP. According to VentureBeat, it is also unsurprisingly ahead of Mac OS X and Linux, neither of which gets much attention from gamers. Windows 10 should soon overtake Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 as the free upgrade rolls out to more users.
Here is the August 2015 operating system market share list for Steam:
• Windows 10: 17.02%
• Windows 8.1: 23.90%
• Windows 8: 2.88%
• Windows 7: 48.54%
• Windows Vista: 0.62%
• Windows XP: 2.76%
• Mac OS X: 3.22%
• Linux: 0.92%
