Ace Combat 7 possibly coming to Xbox One

Update 2: Ace Combat 7 was confirmed for Xbox One today. Bandai Namco released a new trailer showcasing all platforms the game will be available on.

Update 1: Ace Combat 7 was rated for Xbox One in Taiwan. This means that an announcement is imminent.

Developed by Project Aces and published by Bandai Namco, Ace Combat 7 is an upcoming combat flight simulator set to release on PlayStation platforms, however Producer Kazutoki Kono said they aren’t closing the doors on a multiplatform release. A previous entry in the series, Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation, released exclusively for Xbox 360 in 2007. Although Ace Combat 7 is currently planned for PlayStation 4 with PlayStation VR support, that could change in the future.

“I would certainly not say that the doors are closed for a multiplatform release. However, right now we are focusing on the PlayStation Experience because it is a PlayStation VR exclusive in terms of a VR unit. So once we get that optimized we can consider other options,” Kono revealed.

This is a typical response as most studios developing exclusively for one platform usually say that they need to see how well the game does before considering bringing it to other systems. As of right now, Project Aces is focused solely on the PlayStation version. Ace Combat 7 will be releasing in 2017, so we likely won’t hear about a possible Xbox One version for a while. Maybe we’ll get lucky but as of right now it’s just speculation.
