New Amazon Video app out now on Xbox One

Update: The low-resolution video issue seems to have resolved itself. I imagine there was a problem with Amazon’s servers. Apart from that, the new app offers 4K HDR support and is much faster than the previous version which was laggy during its menus. While there’s still some lag when it comes to flipping through the sections, it’s nothing like the previous app. I can definitely recommend it now.

Amazon Prime just went global and popular shows like The Grand Tour are now available around the world. However, that’s not the only big piece of news regarding Amazon. They also launched their new app today which resembles their mobile phone version more than anything else. It’s now available on Xbox One and I believe it’s the universal Windows version. This new program should be in your Ready to Install list as it showed up on ours.

You don’t need to sign in again. Just download the app and it’ll keep the settings from the old one. However, I’m having one major issue with this version. The video quality seems to be quite low. I’m not sure why that’s the case. I kept the old version to test out and the old version displayed content at 1080p. The new Amazon app displays content at around 480p or lower for me. Amazon needs to fix this before I’ll use it again.
