Battlefield: Hardline developer hit with layoffs

In what seems to be much more of a regular occurrence these days, EA has laid off a small number of staff at the game developer. An EA representative told Game Informer the reasons behind it.

He said, “We made a small staffing change in our Visceral studio today to support the needs of the studio’s two current development priorities: content for Battlefield: Hardline Premium and an unannounced Star Wars project.”

They also ensured that they are working on the smoothest transition possible for the impacted employees. Amy Hennig and Todd Stashwick who are currently working on the Star Wars project were unaffected by these changes. EA declined to mention the specific numbers of employees affected by the change.

It looks like Visceral are going through a reshape, especially since Visceral’s Steve Papoutsis left EA after 14 years. It’s certainly sad to see that people’s jobs are being impacted, as any job loss is troubling news for those involved. Our thoughts are with those affected and we hope someone else sweeps them up straight away.
