Battlefield 1 player count remarkably close between Xbox One and PlayStation 4

It’s been two months since the release of DICE’s World War I-themed shooter, Battlefield 1. It seems that after these two months, the amount of concurrent players shooting their way through Battlefield 1’s multiplayer portion is still holding decent numbers, considering the sheer amount of games that have launched this holiday.

What is surprising, however, is the platform numbers with the amount of concurrent players across both PS4 and Xbox One being remarkably considering that Battlefield 1 outsold on PS4 compared to Xbox One and that there are around twice as many PS4 sold to customers than Xbox Ones. PS4 is still in the lead with 261,366 players compared to Xbox’s 216,427. What is weird, though, is how many of PS4’s player base has moved on from DICE’s title as initially Battlefield 1 many more copies on Sony’s platform.

Looking at the population graph of Battlefield 1 over time and its clear that while PS4 started with a high amount of players and gradually went down on a tiny slope, Xbox One gained more players with a steady increase since November, possibly due to the recent rise of Xbox One S sales. Tell us what you think about this situation in the comments below. I’m surprised by these results because the PlayStation 4 has sold around 20-25 million more consoles than Xbox One. There should be a much wider gap in sales for one of the most popular games this year. I guess many gamers there either don’t buy many titles or don’t actively use their consoles. Or many are just sitting inside retailer warehouses. Who knows? The results are definitely shocking to say the least.
