Call of Duty 3 recently joined the Xbox One’s growing catalog of backward compatible titles and a frame rate test shows significant performance improvements on the console.
The frame rate test conducted by VG Tech displays both versions side-by-side and while they each hit 60 FPS, Call of Duty 3 on Xbox One is much more stable. During chaotic scenes filled with explosions and gunfire, both suffer from frame rate drops with the Xbox 360 version dipping into the 30s and 40s regularly. On Xbox One it has a much easier time running at 60 FPS and will occasionally dip into the 40s, but usually stutters in the 50s before returning to 60 FPS. Most interesting is that many of the cutscenes in Call of Duty 3 on the Xbox 360 are stuck at 30 FPS as opposed to 60 FPS running on Xbox One.
Overall, the Xbox One improves the frame rate on most occasions.
