Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition coming this winter, Darksiders 3 teased

It seems to be common practice in recent years, in the run up to E3 for devs and industry moguls to set aside some smaller nuggets of information for release in the run up to the grand show.

Nordic Games (Alan Wake, ArcaniA, Red Faction) announced they’re going to be remastering Darksiders 2 which will be on sale later this year.

What will be known as Darksiders 2 Death-initive Edition will run in native 1080p (for you pixel counters) and features a better lighting and shadow system, a complete overhaul and level re-work, as well as better character and environmental enhancements. All DLC will be included, as well as a more balanced loot system.

Darksiders 2 Death-initive Edition is being remastered by Gunfire Games, a team comprised of many previous Darksiders developers.

A Darksiders 3 release was hinted at, but nothing seems to be set in stone at this time.

Nordic’s business and product development director Reinhard Pollice has said, “We took over the franchise roughly 2 years ago and thought about the next chapter for Darksiders ever since then. Naturally (and extremely excitedly!), there will be a large-scale project based on Darksiders, but for now it is very important for us to take care of the existing games and make those available to a broader audience. Bringing Darksiders 2 to current gen was a logical step for us and the team at Gunfire Games know their trade inside-out, so we easily and quickly had lots of ideas that we wanted to realise for this specific edition.”

Darksiders 2 was a recent offering with Xbox’s popular Games With Gold on Xbox 360.
