The Order: 1886 developer reveals multiplayer-only brawler

It was announced recently that Ready At Dawn, the developers of The Order: 1886, would be releasing a new game under GameStop’s new GameTrust label as well as being a multiplatform title instead of a Sony exclusive title.

Ready At Dawn’s new title has just been revealed as a multiplayer only, third-person “smash ‘em arena combat game” called Deformers. Deformers looks like a pretty substantial shift from the developers work on The Order as a game that is focused purely on gameplay as well as being bright and vibrant instead of the dark and gritty, interactive movie that The Order: 1886 offered.

The gameplay in Deformers puts the players in control of brightly coloured blobs called Forms that perform moves and attacks by changing their shape. After defeating enemies, these Forms can absorb fallen enemies to become bigger, like Agar.io or the pellets in Snake. The game will allow both online and local multiplayer with local play allowing a total of 8 players.

Ready At Dawn’s founder and creative director, Ru Weerasuriya, said that “The foundation of The Order was the , creating something that felt different in the gaming world. That was the driving force then. Here the driving force is gameplay. The very first idea was gameplay, the very last idea will be gameplay, too. It’s only driven by that.”
