Update: The game has been delayed again until March.
Maximum Games have announced, on their blog, that they will be delaying the release of Alekhine’s Gun until February 9th of 2016. The reason they give for the delay appears to be linked to the release of too many AAA games on the same date. One of the good news about the delay will be the worldwide release of it in all platforms.
Here’s the announcement made by Andrew Nguyen, Producer of Maximum Games:
“[…]We knew it would be a challenge to go up against AAA titles on Nov. 10, and many of you warned us about that. But, we were excited about Alekhine’s Gun, and we were anxious to get it out to all the fans in time for the Holidays.
I have to say it was very nice to know that you guys didn’t just want the game, but also cared about its long-term success. We heard your concerns and also realized that we weren’t giving the title the comprehensive global launch it deserved, especially since a good many of our fans are overseas. There were fans in Europe going through great lengths looking for ways to import the game.
We want to take care of those dedicated fans around the world. Launching on February 9th will allow for a synchronized launch on consoles in North America, South America, and Europe – in addition to our global launch on STEAM.[…]”
