Fable card game getting Kickstarter campaign

Update: The Kickstarter was cancelled after the developers found a mysterious partner to fund the project.

The Fable series isn’t dead yet! While Fable Legends has now be canned and Lionhead is now defunct, a group of former Lionhead Studios employees are now working on Fable Fortune, a Hearthstone-esque card game set for release on Xbox One and PC in late 2017.

The new developer team, Flaming Fowl Studios, was in development for 18 months before the closure of Lionhead and will now be headed to head to Kickstarter to fund future development of the title. The Kickstarter campaign begins tomorrow at 3pm BST/10am ET/7am PT and are looking to raise a total of £250,000 with a planned multitude of stretch goals.

The team are focusing on “improving the genre” by offering players a “more engaging 3D art style” as well as bringing a “full online co-op mode against AI “bosses”. While it’s great to see Fable brought back, by ex-Lionhead employees no less, it still makes us wonder just what are Microsoft planning for the future of the series, especially as they no longer seem to be funding Fable Fortune.
