Fable Legends open beta planned, arriving

Fable Legends is on the horizon, and currently enjoys a closed beta test with a bunch of lucky dudes and dudettes (myself not included, THANKS A BUNCH LIONHEAD, so much for British camaraderie
Lauran Carter of Lionhead Studios recently sent out a bunch of tweets reassuring fans that more beta keys were on the way, in addition to a full blown open beta (as they ramp up stress testing of the 4v1 game’s servers).

@Paradiger Exact words were ‘Open beta soon enough’ 😉

“Soon enough” is a phrase wildly open to interpretation, as seen by many game website’s headlines this morning – but its exciting to know!

I spoke to a developer of Fable Legends at Gamescom last summer, and whilst I forgot his name in a whirlwind of unprofessionalism – he did assure me that the widely multiplayer marketed game was playable entirely offline. When playing with just 1 or 2 friends, the 4v1 mechanics simply pick up A.I. variants. He compared the functionality to Dragon Age, where your party members follow your lead and execute commands independently.

Importantly, I’ve seen the game running live quite a few times, and although stylised in typical Fable fashion, it is bloody gorgeous. The effects and cloth physics being notably awe inspiring. The developer (whose name I forgot, please don’t hate me… he had an American accent though, if that helps?!) spoke to me at length about the cape and cloth physics, and how they spent a ridiculous amount of time fine tuning the flow and elasticity of the cloth to ensure maximum realism. Expect Fable Legends to deliver big on polish.
