Update: Ubisoft confirmed that the game is always online even during its campaign. This is due to progression carrying over between single-player and multiplayer portions of the game.
It seems that For Honor may require an internet connection at all times. According to a image that leaked of the box art, it clearly stays that an internet connection is required at all times. I thought this game had a standalone single-player campaign but I guess not. It’s maybe tied to the multiplayer some way. Maybe co-op gameplay? Who knows? Either ways, you’ll constantly need to be connected to the internet to play it.
While I think many will be disappointed, especially though who love gaming but don’t have reliable internet service (many gamers don’t), I can understand why a multiplayer-heavy title requires that. We’ll have to see what Ubisoft says regarding this rumor.
