Microsoft and Turn 10 Studios have some big plans lined up for E3 2015 for Forza Motorsport 6 but they aren’t forgetting about Forza Horizon 2 either. During the Microsoft conference on June 15th, Microsoft are expected to announce a new expansion for Forza Horizon 2 known as Porsche Expansion which will be available sometime within the month.
Of course, this wasn’t meant to be announced this early but Microsoft seem to have made a slip up in their YouTube coding for their Duracell Car Pack trailer that was uploaded to their Xbox YouTube channel. Indeed, they have a Porsche Expansion trailer uploaded privately and clearly someone has the databases for both videos the wrong way around. So when a user tries to retrieve the information from the Duracell video onto their devices using Twitter, it will show the opposite title and video description.
This was captured on my own phone (Windows Phone, via Twitter app) when I tested this out by tweeting it. After many trials, it sure enough shows that there is indeed a Forza Horizon 2 Porsche Expansion coming and yes, I’m expecting the announcement to be made at E3. So what’s causing this, it’s some kind of HTML cache issue and they’ve been mixed up. It also possible that the video title and description was switched and later edited which Twitter has not yet been updated to.
The Porsche Expansion pack is expected to be the last for Forza Horizon 2, adding an additional 500 Gamerscore points, new events and many new Porsche cars to the game. Now, hold on a minute, what about EA? Well, I’m still unsure of the situation of the EA/Porsche deal, but what I do know is that Microsoft have been anxious to get Porsche into the game including recently borrowing Magnus Walker’s custom Porsche 277 to scan for the game. I’ve always believed Porsche is coming to Forza Motorsport 6 and made an article as to why, but bringing Porsche to Forza Horizon 2 has caught me by surprise.
The last time we saw Porsche in Forza Motorsport was back in the franchises fourth entry when a DLC released for Forza Motorsport 4 back in 2012 added thirty Porsche cars to the game. This of course meant Microsoft had to make a deal with Electronic Arts in order to license each of those cars. It would’ve resulted in Microsoft paying a lot of money but they clearly saw the value in it. Turn 10 Creative Director Dan Greenawalt said back at the announcement of the pack “The upcoming Porsche Expansion Pack for Forza Motorsport 4 is great news for racing fans and I’m pleased that we’ve been able to work closely with EA on an agreement that brings one of the world’s most iconic automotive brands to Forza 4.” Looks like, they’ve made another agreement or the EA deal somehow expired.
Now, time for that 918.
Cheers to @BussDH and @Nick88S for discovering and helping my verify this!
