At the San Diego Comic-Con event, Gears of War creators The Coalition discussed the upcoming blockbuster Gears of War 4. The game which will launch in October has become one of the most anticipated titles, and The Coalition spared no hype building up this anticipation. They also showed off the limited edition Gears of War 4 console, which will go on sale this holiday. But when Rod Fergusson was asked about a possible movie for the franchise in the near future, he hinted at something but didn’t confirm it:
“There is some stuff going on that I can’t talk about today, but I’ll possibly be talking about very soon. I’m very excited about what the future holds.”
Movies based on games have become quite popular recently, with Naughty Dog possibly working on a film adaptation of one of their award winning games, and Halo has seen multiple movie attempts throughout its history. However, it remains to be seen how The Coalition handles such a project and stays true to the franchise and the lore that goes with it.
Gears of War 4 will launch this October on Xbox One and Windows 10. The limited edition console will go on sale at the same time and is available for pre-order right now.
