This is not a massive surprise, after rumours arrived stating the game was now in full development at 2K Czech. This developer also worked on the previous entry to the franchise, Mafia 2, which shipped 5 years ago. Only last month it was reported that domains for Mafia 3 had been claimed, which lead to more speculation regarding the project.

According to the franchise’s official site, Mafia 3 will be developed by Hangar 13, a team of veterans from a range of successful IPs. 2K Games are still taking the lead however. The team consists of Haden Blackman, ex-writer at LucasArts, and members from Pixar, and 2K Czech. Some employees have come from projects in the Dead Space and Splinter Cell franchises.

While little information has been publicised, the single graphic shared shows a team of characters in the headlights of four vehicles. These cars are presumed to be those of the four silhouettes. In front of these figures appears to be a man on his knees, with hands tied.

For players who picked up Mafia II free, now would be a good time to get into the franchise.
