Mafia 3 incorporates police bias into emergency response times

Mafia 3 might have many bugs but it innovates in many ways too. For example, the police response is varied depending on the neighborhood. As you know, in real life, as has been proven by numerous studies and police records, officers are most likely to respond faster when a call comes from a rich neighborhood rather than a poor neighborhood. They’re also more likely to respond if that rich neighborhood has more white people than black people. Additionally, if a poor neighborhood has more black people then the police are even slower to respond. It’s unfortunate that this is the case but Mafia 3 tries to capture this in gameplay.

While I’m not sure what can be done to correct police bias which is still prevalent to this day, Mafia 3 still highlights an important problem many people face in the United States today. I’m not sure what the statistics are in countries like the United Kingdom but hopefully having better training programs for officers will improve this statistic. Either ways, it’s still interesting that Mafia 3 incorporated this into gameplay as it’s an important part of the world we live in.
