Brandwatch analyzed social media activity during and after each E3 conference this year from EA, Bethesda, Microsoft, Sony, Ubisoft, and Nintendo. According to the firm Microsoft was the biggest hit, garnering 30% of social media attention. PlayStation came second with 19% of the mentions while Ubisoft received 18%. EA did well too as they got 14% while Bethesda and Nintendo tied each other with 9% each. The PC Gaming event was an absolute disaster as it earned just 1% of social media activity.
There you have it folks, not only did Microsoft win when it comes to social media activity they also won in terms of searches. The point of E3 is to generate as much press about your games and events. Microsoft succeeded on both fronts and that’s why they won E3 according to various research firms by huge margins. As expected, Xbox Scorpio was the most popular announcement at all the conferences.
