Iron Galaxy continue their updates for Killer Instincts Season 2 by unveiling yet another new character to add to the roster during their latest Twitch stream- Aganos. Many fans who watched last months trailer for Omen would have seen the giant Golem teased right at the end. The mighty Aganos is Killer Instincts largest character to date, towering over the previous holder to that crown, Galcius.
The official Killer Instinct forum has been discussing the history of Aganos, and just what abilities he brings to the arena. The War Golem is a creation of powerful artisans, and is the last of his kind. Utilised in battles spanning Europe and the Middle East, the Golem’s war weary body has become unrecognisable from its original form. Over the years the only way he could repair his damaged torso would be to substitute metal for rock, and nuts and bolts for rope and vines. The thoughtless creature felt nothing, only obeyed. Until one king granted him the ability to think and learn, naming him Aganos- ‘A person of gentle disposition’. The Golem remained loyal to the king out of respect for him releasing him from the life of strict obedience.
Years later, when that king learned that Kan-Ra still lived and was delving deeper and deeper into research of the dark arts, he asked Aganos to hunt down and destroy the evil sorcerer once and for all. Aganos accepted and for years has fought the evil sorcerer across the globe with one never being able to defeat the other. The conflict continues in KI season 2.
So what does Aganos bring to the franchise? Well his stage called the Forgotten Grotto (pictured above) depicts an Ancient Greece setting with the beauty of the Mediterranean evident in the backdrop. He has a replenishable resource visible on the character in the form of rock armour. The rocks can be thrown as projectiles or to build walls which acts as a permanent stage feature, until destroyed or re-absorbed. The more rock armour Aganos has on the slower and restricted he becomes, the more he sheds through battle the less protection he has to attacks so there is definitely a balance to be found to the character. He has a special roll attack with a controllable bounce component plus a shadow move that allows free action while incapacitating and damaging the opponent. Powerful two hit strikes in place of auto doubles and a stage ultra will be possible. (See video below)
