A new Rock Band title is being developed according to an individual familiar with the plan. Harmonix is creating the new game for next-generation consoles. Rock Band and other titles grew in popularity many years ago but the rise of casual and mobile gaming led to a significant decrease in their popularity. The band genre which once accounted for millions in hardware and software sales has been dormant for a long time. Activision released a Guitar Hero game four years ago but then shut down the division.
The interest in next-generation consoles is an excellent time to reintroduce this genre. If the price is right and the game is marketed properly, we could see a resurgence. Stayed tuned to XboxMAD for more news on this project as soon as it is available.
