Call of Duty seems to be taking a lot of inspirations lately. While the movements have been lifted from Titanfall, it seems that the art style and particularly some items have been lifted from Halo. There have been numerous images floating around the internet over the past few weeks which compare Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare to Halo. While initially I dismissed them as mere coincidences, today an Xbox One gamer tweeted an image of them all together with their Halo counterparts. I have to say, this doesn’t seem like a string of coincidences to me anymore.
I’m not sure what the line between taking inspiration and plagiarism is but it’s one thing to copy movement mechanics like in the case of Titanfall and it’s another to copy the art style and visual creativity of others. I honestly think that Microsoft should have a little talk with Activision and bring up these concerns. I realize that innovating every year is hard but that doesn’t mean you can just rip off other people’s work. What do you think? Thank you Xbox One Fans on Facebook for the tip.
