According to various media outlets, Microsoft is planning a hardware event in October where they will announce a lot of new devices. This will range from a new Microsoft Band to a new Xbox One model. Please keep in mind all of this is just rumors and speculation at this time.
It has been rumored for quite some time that Microsoft would release a new Xbox One model soon. It wouldn’t be something out of left field from Microsoft. There were multiple Xbox 360 models released but the most notable was the Xbox 360 slim. The slimmer console came with a whopping 250 GB hard drive and built-in Wi-Fi capabilities. If rumors are true, could this new Xbox One model be the Xbox 360 slim of this generation? However, that’s not all. It gets even better.
Rumors from the past few months suggest that the new Xbox One would be a smaller console with no disc drive. That means no more physical games and you would have to buy all titles online. I already do that and every Xbox One game I own is digital so I would actually prefer a slimmer device like this. Personally I don’t think this is likely because retailers like GameStop are less likely to sell these consoles because it wouldn’t suit their business model which is based on physical game sales.
That doesn’t mean that there is no new Xbox One model coming through. They could release a much smaller Xbox One with a drive since the current model is larger when compared to the PlayStation 4 or even the Xbox 360. There are many things they could do for a new model. For example, make it smaller, get rid of the power brick and put it in the console, or something extremely unlikely, an Xbox One with a built-in Kinect microphone that you can use for voice commands. I don’t know if that is technically possible, but it is an interesting idea nonetheless!
The chances of a new Xbox One model being announced at this event are very slim (pun intended), but it isn’t unlikely that we will see a new Xbox One model at some point in the future of the console!
Apart from the new Xbox One rumors, Microsoft will supposedly showcase the new Surface Pro 4, a Surface Mini, and two new Lumia handsets. Stay tuned to ICXM.net for more information as soon as it’s available about this event.
