Blizzard confirms Overwatch coming to consoles

Update: Blizzard confirmed console versions are coming spring 2016. Amazon said the release date was June 21.

Overwatch is a First Person Shooter coming from Blizzard, or rather Activision Blizzard.

Set in the future, with conflict rising, a group of elite soldiers are forced into a helping protect the world they love.

With a load of different characters set in an arena format, this style of game could see a wealth of popularity on the console platform. Blizzard could easily change various aspects of the PC to make it serviceable for the Xbox and Playstation systems, in the same way they have done with Diablo. Whilst I have tweeted to see if there is any truth to the rumor, I have not received a response yet.

Overwatch is currently in BETA testing on PC, and I’m hearing positive things about it. The wide range of characters with different abilities and specialties give the game a little extra to it. Combine this and the maps taking cultural references from modern society and it might be something worth looking at. To increase the theory that it may appear Overpwn found references to the console version of the game, finding the code: “INITIAL_PSN_OR_XBL_AUTH” and “WAITING_FOR_PSN_OR_XBL_AUTH.”

Here’s the Gameplay trailer for Overwatch Reaper looks like a badass!

Blizzcon begins in a few days and Overwatch will be a notable part of the conference, is it something you’d be interested in?
