Overwatch has only just launched, with servers being available to play on soon, but Blizzard have already decided on the first free content update that they’ll be bringing to the charming hero shooter in the form of a Competitive Mode for the game.
Players of the PC closed beta may already be familiar with the mode as it was available to play before the mode eventually got pulled. After some reworking, however, Blizzard has announced that the mode will be returning to the game in a late June update for the game.
Competitive mode puts players against people of similar skill levels in three-month long seasons that resets your rank after the season has ended, much like Halo 5. By competing in these seasons players will be able to unlock special rewards such as new sprays, icons, and voices.
Overwatch is already shaping up to be one of the biggest, most popular multiplayer games in a long time and hopefully, with regular content updates like this, Overwatch will become a solid experience for years to come.
