The award winning Payday 2 has returned to console, this time on Xbox One and Playstation 4. The game is based on the concept of becoming a master crook, and pulling off a series of heists with a team of friends. Since its original launch in 2013, the game has received a massive number of updates on the PC version. The Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions have been left behind with the old technology, and the re-release on current generation consoles offers a large number of these expansions day one, on-disc. The game runs at 1080p and has a rather small install size of 9.8GB.
The game has all the updates up to Update #52, which added ‘The Bomb Heists’. The previous generation console versions were abandoned and rarely updated, however with current generation hardware possessing similar architecture to the PC version, Overkill Software promises to support the game in the future.
The game includes all the weapons, attachments, masks, characters, and other customisation options from the PC version up to Update #52, however some DLC currently released, such as the ‘Jacket Character Pack’ will be given to those how purchased the Crimewave Edition post-launch, via a free update.
The game costs $49.99/£39.99 and releases today in Europe. The game will launch on June 16th in the United States.
