A season pass for Rise of the Tomb Raider just appeared on Amazon. The pass has a retail price of $29.99 and states “The Season Pass for Rise of the Tomb Raider includes a range of content that will extend your single-player campaign, and also allow you to compete with friends.”
It’s interesting how the season pass says “allow you to compete with friends”. Crystal Dynamics said that Rise of the Tomb Raider would not have any type of multiplayer content. This could mean the season pass will add the mode, or it could mean that features like online leaderboards will make their way to the game.
I’m pretty sure I read somewhere a few months ago that a multiplayer mode was planned for Rise of the Tomb Raider. The news that it would be a single-player experience shocked me. I think Crystal Dynamics just needed more time to finish it. It might even be an Xbox One exclusive feature to distinguish it from the Xbox 360 version. Who knows? We’ve reached out to Crystal Dynamics for comment and shall update you when we hear back.
