RUMOR: Warner Bros. developer allegedly leaks Batman: Arkham Insurgency

The Batman: Arkham series has been a beloved fan-favourite ever since Rocksteady released Arkham Asylum back in 2009. Now, an alleged WB Montreal employee—or as he puts it, “soon-to-be-former-WB-employee”—has leaked a host of potential details on a potential new game in the series, allegedly titled, “Batman: Arkham Insurgency”.

According to the leak which was posted on Reddit, Batman: Arkham Insurgency will take place many years after the events of WB’s last venture in the series, Arkham Origins. Set in a coastal area outside of traditional Gotham, players will control both Batman and Dick Grayson as they attempt to control a mass breakout of criminals and Batman villains from both Blackgate and Arkham Asylum. In traditional Batman: Arkham fashion, the coastal area will be locked off by the GCPD to stop any villains escaping.

Whilst the landmass of this new area will be the same size as all three islands from Arkham Knight, the interior locations will be massively expanded. This means that while the outside area won’t get a massive boost in size, more detail has been put into created larger, more detailed interiors.

The main villains of the game will allegedly be Owlman and the Court of Owls although other villains will also turn up as well. These additional villains include: “Maxie Zeus, Dollmaker, Killer Moth, Anarky, Two-Face, Blockbuster, Ventriloquist, Cornelius Stirk, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, Dusan al Ghul, Mad Monk, Dala, Riddler and yes, Joker.”

The story revolves around The Court of Owls’ beliefs that Batman and his vigilantism is a threat to the control they have over Gotham. The Court organizes a massive criminal uprising in order to take out Batman and his allies. You’ll be able to fight the Talons, the assassin followers of Owlman, although each character will never fight them more than three times.

The Batmobile will also return although the way in which you control the iconic vehicle has been drastically changed. Instead of the “battle mode” in Arkham Knight, players will use the Batmobile’s advantages in speed and maneuverability to “navigate around slower opponents while bombing the hell out of them with the car’s weaponry”.

The combat system has been changed up a little bit in order to work better with one-on-one fighting which the poster claims is more complicated than the “attack and counter” basis of previous games. The “dual-play” mode from previous games will also be back although, instead of the awesome dual takedown function, the game will instead have unique combos and moves for dual-play scenarios. The game will even include a full skill tree to accommodate the extra complexity.

The leaker claims that the game is supposed to be released in November this year although, since the game was allegedly meant to be revealed at the end of 2016, the game could potentially be pushed back further. Tell us what you think about this rumour in the comments below. The leaker also claims that the game will be announced on March 8.
