Skype has numerous amazing animated emojis but recently they got even better. Many messaging services cater to select groups of people, especially though living in Western countries. However, Skype recently added emojis highlighting Indian culture that incorporate traditions and common phrases used in the region.

Bhangra is a traditional dance that is quite popular in the region and even neighboring countries like Bangladesh and Pakistan. The nahi emoji refers to a phrase used frequently in Indian soap operas to designate dramatic events. There are also words like oye and abe that are used by youngsters. It’s good to see Skype catering to people outside of the Western world. I hope other companies follow suit.
