Dontnod’s Philippe Moreau, the director for Vampyr, revealed new details about the game. In the interview, he spoke about some of the protagonist and setting. When asked about the gameplay, Moreau said, “Vampyr is an action RPG with tight, visceral combat mechanics, exploration, and investigation.” The player’s arsenal includes makeshift weapons like saws and other doctoral utensils because you play a doctor. Considering that the main character is a vampire, players will have to feed to regenerate health. Picking the right targets is very important in the game.
The protagonist himself, Jonathan Reid, is a surgeon in 1918 London specializing in blood transfusion. How he becomes a vampire isn’t known but the story revolves around that and his thirst for blood. Talking about the setting, Moreau said, “We wanted to tell a truly gothic story about vampires–a far cry from the glittery vampires you see on TV and in movies nowadays.”
Vampy is expected to release on Xbox One and Windows in 2017 because development just started on the game.
