VLC is a free media player used by many people due to its ability to play almost any type of music and video file. Thomas Nigro, one of the programmers, tweeted about possibly bringing VLC to the Xbox One. This might mean that the media player will make its way onto the console very soon.
To sum up: Universal App mean a possible XBOX One release, DLNA and SMB will be available, translations will also come in several languages

Xbox One programs use similar styling to Windows 8 applications so porting it over won’t be that difficult. Given that universal applications will be available soon on all of Microsoft’s platforms, we can expect a future release of the popular software to support the console.
However, it should be noted that Microsoft’s own Media Player application for Xbox One can handle many of the VLC formats. It already supports MKV and AVI. The company has also promised that Windows 10 will natively support many different types of files. VLC is branching out with media curation and a universal application that syncs settings with your Microsoft account would be a different, unique, and coveted experience.
