Witcher 3 on Xbox One runs at 1080p through dynamic scaling

Not many gameplay videos of the console versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are out at the moment. A few days ago, Conan O’Brien played the game for his talk show but there was some confusion as to whether it was Xbox One or Windows footage. After that, the game released a few days early in the United Arab Emirates and many Xbox One gameplay videos made their way to the Internet. Unfortunately, they were low quality and taken down.

Not to worry though, CD Projekt RED just released 1080p Xbox One gameplay footage. The title runs at 1080p and dynamically scales down to 900p if it senses the frame rate is dipping below an acceptable level. This is the same technology employed by Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare which prevented frame rate issues unlike other versions of the title.

When asked about the decision to push the graphics to 1080p, the studio responded by saying, “The video you’re now watching is grabbed directly from an Xbox One console. We’ve been working to give gamers an even better experience on Xbox One and, on day one, we’ll bring you dynamic scaling from 900p to 1080p. We’re not much more than a week before launch, but we’re still fighting for every line of code — we want gamers to get the best possible experience we can deliver.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is already one of the biggest games this year and the developers have made sure it’s an epic experience. The title features hundreds of hours of gameplay and the varying paths ensure significant replay value. The title releases May 19, 2015 around the world and I’m so excited I can’t contain it. This week needs to go by faster.
