Phil Spencer answered a lot of questions on Twitter about the future of Xbox. He talked about E3 2017 and even Japan. We’ve summarized the main points here:
• “Thanks. It’s a journey. Started w/ focus on hardware, longest timelines. We’ve rebuilt XBL and OS. Bringing same focus to 1P”. Spencer is focused on first-party games now.
• “Yes, visit to Japan confirmed for me we’d be seeing these coming <and yes I know I’ve said this before>”. More JRPGs are coming to Xbox One.
• “I agree. Last 12 months shipped in April (QB), Sept, Oct, Dec, Feb (HW2). Ship dates aren’t easy but I agree on need to balance.” Microsoft exclusives need to be more spread out through the year.
• “I want to give our games more time on stage at E3, I sometimes feel like we rush telling the story of our games at E3.” Spencer wants to give Microsoft’s games more time on stage at E3.
• “Game attach on XB1 is great, Xbox customers are buying games, DLC etc. Usage is high etc”. Xbox is doing great and gamers are engaged.
• Spencer’s favorite back compat game is coming to Xbox One in the next few weeks.
