Xbox One outsells PlayStation 4 during Black Friday sales week

Update: We got additional details from Cyber Monday. According to Polygon who obtained the data, Microsoft’s Xbox One quadrupled its selling speed on Cyber Monday with one unit sold every fifteen seconds, which was twice as fast as PlayStation 4 sales that day.

Xbox was the fifth best-selling electronics brand, beating both Sony and Nintendo during this year’s US Black Friday sale.

While Xbox’s overall sales this week have been beaten by higher profile items such as 4K Televisions, iPads and MacBook’s, Xbox’s current generation console—including both the original Xbox One and Xbox One S, has outperformed all of its competitors during the biggest retail week of the year.

The week of Black Friday is surprising when looking at the high amount of Xbox sales especially considering that Sony’s brand new PlayStation 4 Pro has only just launched. The much lower price of the Xbox One/Xbox One S, especially during Black Friday, may have caused some consumers to choose Xbox over PlayStation. The inclusion of the cheapest 4K Blu-Ray player in the One S no doubt helps as well.

While the Black Friday sales have helped Xbox during this week, PlayStation did shift more units during Cyber Monday. It will be interesting to see how far the Xbox and PlayStation sales go during the Christmas period. Tell us your predictions below.
