Gearbox Software have detailed how to transfer your game saves from Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel to the upcoming remastered edition for next gen consoles; The Handsome Collection.
Note that saves can only be transferred through the same console family.
Only one save can be transferred at a time – if you wish to transfer multiple save files then repeat the process below for successive saves.
-First make sure you have installed the patch that will be releasing this week for Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.
-After this is installed, a “Cloud Save” option will appear on the main menu, allowing for you to upload your save on to the Xbox 360 and pass it through the cloud to the Xbox One.
-On the Xbox One version of the game, select “Cloud Save” and then “Download Save.” After the save has been downloaded to The Handsome Collection, you can pick up right where you left off on the Xbox 360 version of the game!
Here’s what will transfer over from Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel:
- Character level and all mission progress.
- Badass Points (all of these will transfer, but you’ll get to re-spend them)
- Backpack inventory.
- Weapon slots.
- Cash and Eridum/Moonstones.
- Items stored in the bank in Sanctuary.
All unlocked character customizations (heads/skins) Customizations obtained from Telltale’s Poker Night 2 will be added in a patch following launch.
Items stored in Claptrap’s Secret Stash in Sanctuary will not be transferred, so make sure you gather everything you need out of there. Your Golden Keys will also not transfer, however golden keys and more will be rewarded as a thank you for playing Borderlands 2 or The-Pre-Sequel.
Borderlands 2:
75 Golden Keys
A healthy chunk of Badass Rank
Bonus character customizations
Borderlands The Pre-Sequel:
75 Golden Keys
A healthy chunk of Badass Rank
Bonus unique weapons and character customizations
As a huge Borderlands fan, I’m really excited to re-play Borderlands 2 on the Xbox One! I’ve never played The Pre-Sequel as it never released on next-gen consoles so I’m also anticipating playing through that in co-op! Are you excited for Borderlands: The Handsome Collection? Let us know.
