Upcoming MOBA/FPS hybrid Battleborn has gone gold and an open beta is on the way, says Gearbox President Randy Pitchford. Pitchford has clarified that although the main game is indeed complete, the beta will allow Gearbox to acquire some critical information concerning competitive multiplayer modes and balancing, as well as info on how to tweak some backend service issues. As a massive fan of the original Borderlands games, I’m excited about the Battleborn campaign, however I’m also hoping that this beta will allow Gearbox to ensure an optimal online experience on launch day. Battleborn releases May 3rd, 2016, and by preordering now you will gain access to some exclusive gold hero skins, although we recommend giving the upcoming beta a shot first if you haven’t had a chance to play the game already.
Exciting news: Battleborn retail is ready! Back in the day we would say “Gone Gold!” Team is stoked and hard at work on support, beta, etc.

Upcoming open beta is mostly for hammering on our in-beta backend software. Data for balance is key and will be used too!
