Update: We got some sales figures with this announcement. According to SuperData—the agency who massively downgraded PlayStation VR estimates—Battlefield 1 was the highest-grossing game on consoles and one of the biggest on Windows too in October when looking at digital sales. The shooter made $70 million on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and $110 million across everything. Sadly, Titanfall 2 didn’t do well and only made $18 million digitally across all platforms.
DICE’s popular World War 1 themed FPS, Battlefield 1, will be receiving free multiplayer DLC later this month.
Following the tradition of Battlefield 4 and Star Wars Battlefront, Battlefield 1 will dish out a free multiplayer map in December entitled Giant’s Shadow. The official description says, “Prepare to take part in the Battle of the Selle in the cold autumn of 1918. Here, the fighting moves out of the trenches and into open country where a massive crashed airship casts its shadow on to the battlefield and British forces have broken through the Hindenburg line.”
However good the new content for Battlefield 1 is, I’m sure it’ll keep the game’s already large player base playing. Tell us what you think of Battlefield 1: Giant’s Shadow in the comments below.
