Microsoft to release more Xbox One exclusives in 2016 than 2015

2015 is walking towards its end and it has been a great year for Microsoft in terms of what comes to Xbox One with the release of 5 big exclusive titles. This has definitely delighted Xbox One owners, especially in the last 3 months. I’m talking about the releases of Rare Replay, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Forza Motorsport 6, Halo 5: Guardians and the yet to come Rise of the Tomb Raider. And this is just on the last 3 month of the “gaming season”.

With all the great games that were released on Xbox One throughout the year, it would be easy to start wondering if next year Microsoft will be capable of matching this year’s releases and compete with the competition in 2016. But according to Aaron Greenberg, Microsoft is planning to bring even more games to the Xbox One during 2016 that in 2015.

On the Kinda Funny Games podcast about the future of Xbox in 2016, Aaron Greenberg said the following:

“We expect to sell more games next year and we have more game titles releasing next year than we do this year. If you start to look at that list of things that are coming, we have Quantum Break in April, Killer Instinct Season 3, Recore, Scalebound, Crackdown, Sea of Thieves, Halo Wars 2 and Gears of War 4 and probably some we haven’t announced.”

Aaron Greenberg also talked about that fact that Xbox One was selling more console than it did Xbox 360s when it released:

“Globally, if you look at Xbox One sales month by month and how we stack up against where the Xbox 360 was, and I think Xbox 360 was widely regarded as a huge success for us, we are month by month selling more Xbox Ones than we did Xbox 360s. We’re actually widening that gap. As we rate ourselves against ourselves, we’re doing very well. We’re also selling more and more games than we sold last-gen. We’re seeing the console market being extremely healthy. If you look at the games lineup this year and you look at the games lineup next year, Halo will sell a lot of consoles, Gears will sell a lot of consoles, so for us it’s been really healthy.”

I can’t wait to see which other exclusives will release next year. I’m looking forward to Quantum Break first.
