Update: The developers have submitted Spoticast to be certified and listed for Xbox One. Hopefully Microsoft will approve it and it’ll be available on the Xbox Store soon.
With the Xbox One getting in on the Universal Windows Platform, the doors have opened to third-party app developers to create awesome apps for the platform, where companies who don’t want to support the console might have failed. Recently fans of Spotify have called on the developer of Spoticast, an awesome alternative to Spotify on Windows to develop an Xbox One version of the app.
The developer responded and have shown off his work with the app officially running on the Xbox One. However currently third party developers cannot submit apps to the store yet, or until the Anniversary update rolls out with the universal Windows store. The app will support background music as well.
Spotify hasn’t announced their official app yet for the platform, however with the popularity of Windows 10, it’s just a matter of time.
