It appears that the Start menu is back in Windows RT 8.1 according to various sources. Microsoft has quietly released an update for the operating system that came with the original Surface devices. The latest update for Windows RT 8.1 is dubbed as Update 3, and as promised, the update is finally available for Windows RT users. If you own a Windows RT device, check for updates through the Windows Update service and you should be able to get it.
With Update 3, Microsoft has added the Start Menu. It’s not the Windows 10 Start Menu but it’s similar. Microsoft has decided to pack Update 3 with the DirectUI Start menu, which was available on the early builds of Windows 10. Other than the new Start Menu, Update 3 doesn’t bring any new features, which may be disappointing for some users.
