Phil Spencer silences Silent Hills rumours

Update: Phil Spencer has debunked the rumours on Twitter. Microsoft isn’t in talks with Konami about Silent Hills.

Rumours are beginning to arise suggesting that the Silent Hills franchise may be moving to Microsoft in the near future. An anonymous source has told Rooster Teeth’s ‘The Know’, that Microsoft Studios are in discussion with Konami to buy the Silent Hills IP. This would make the Silent Hills franchise an Xbox One exclusive.

According to the source, Silent Hills is in the process of being purchased and if all goes to plan, we may see the game at E3 2015. The game is supposedly 80% complete, however the project is currently abandoned due to the fall of Konami in the game industry. Konami are focusing on mobile development, therefore must sell off IP’s that are not applicable or convertible to the mobile platform.

If the game is this far into development, the source states that the game could release as early as March 2016.

The franchise is set to sell in the ‘billions’, if all goes to plan, in a race to deliver more exclusives to the Xbox One platform. The P.T demo was removed from the Playstation Store this month, and was reportedly “as a show of good faith to Microsoft”.

It will great to see Silent Hills revived if this rumour is true. What do you think of these rumours? Let us know in the comments!
