Witcher 3 patch that locks frame rate out now on Xbox One

Announcement: The Witcher 3 patch that supposedly fixes frame rate issues by locking the frame rate at 30 FPS is out now on Xbox One. This patch stabilises the experience, while also fixing numerous bugs linked to loading and saving data. The patch that increases font size will be available next week.

Update: Two new add-ons which bring a new look for Yennefer and a miners side quest are out now on Xbox One before the patch. Some users are reporting issues with loading the game after they install the Yennefer content so we would recommend waiting for the patch.

Details of the first large patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have been detailed by Community Lead at CD Projekt RED, Marcion Momot, on his personal Twitter. This is the second patch since launch, and will help with accessibility and stability on the Xbox One. The previous patch 1.01 fixed minor technical issues; therefore this will be the first patch to change content.

From his tweets, he has confirmed that fonts used within the game and its menus will be made bigger, to help gamers who often play on couches or from far away. Many inventories and subtitles are displayed in a small font, and will be made larger in the next patch.

One of the few technical issues with The Witcher 3 on Xbox One is that the framerate can vary in different situations. This is not a game breaking problem, however the next patch will smoothen the experience by locking the framerate at 30 FPS, similar to the Playstation 4 version of the game. Currently, framerate can rise above 30 FPS, and sadly can make a ‘bouncy’ experience.

It has also been confirmed that this patch will continue to strip, and iron out small bugs that are currently in the 1.01 build of The Witcher 3. Specifically, the King Gambit quest will be updated to fix the infamous infinite loading screen which has affected many players.
